Last week we were lucky enough to be selected as one of thirty British companies to travel to Tokyo to take part in the UKTI Fashion & Lifestyle Mission held at the British Embassy. Having never been to Tokyo before, or Japan even, this was an opportunity that we couldn't quite believe was happening.
For two days we set up our products inside the embassy and met with a variety of buyers, importers, distributors and journalists and introduced them to our brand, what we do and how we do it.
As well as showing our products to potential stockists, another important part of the trip was researching the shops (of which there are many!) that fill Tokyo's streets and learning about the shopping habits and trends of the Japanese consumer.
Uniqlo's biggest flagship store in Ginza. 12 floors in total.
High-end department store Isetan in Shinjuku.
One of the many cute (kawaii!) independent shops in Harujuku.
Our good friend Hilary Grant (pictured below) was also on the mission promoting her beautiful knitwear and we had lots of fun researching all these shops and riding the metro together (those colours are just amazing!)...
Thankfully, although it was a short trip, there was also time to sample lots of the local cuisine which was so delicious...
Our trip would not have been complete without a trip to the New York Bar on the 52nd floor of the Park Hyatt...not only is the view incredible but we love Bill Murray and couldn't resist this opportunity to have a cocktail in the same bar that he drank in during the brilliant Lost in Translation film.
Thanks for having us Tokyo...we can't wait to return!

What a wonderful trip! I remember you talking about it at Design Junction in London. I bought a blue light shade of yours which looks great on my lamp. Good luck, John
