CATALOGUE: 25 years of the Centre for Advanced Textiles Exhibition
13th September - 18th October 2025,
Garnethill Gallery, Reid Building, Glasgow School of Art
I'm hugely flattered to have been invited by the incredible team at CAT (the Centre for Advanced Textiles at Glasgow School of Art) to participate in their 25 year anniversary exhibition celebrating their achievements in the textile industry.
"This retrospective highlights pivotal moments from CAT’s quarter-century of innovation, underscoring its crucial role in Scotland’s textile, creative arts, fine art, and design sectors, as well as in education. The exhibition features a curated selection of client works from selected periods and disciplines, including apparel, home furnishings, and contemporary art pieces, making an impact across fashion design, TV production, interior design, exhibitions and contemporary visual arts. These exhibits exemplify how CAT’s expert team collaborates with a range of clients, education and commercial partners, to pioneer digital textile manufacturing.
The exhibition includes work by Grayson Perry, Giles Deacon, Jilli Blackwood, Laura Spring, Kerry Nixon, Fraser Taylor, Erin McQuarrie, Bernd Hildebrandt & Liz Ingram, Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation, Robert Stewart, Garnethill Multicultural Centre and Linn with Timorous Beasties, amongst others."
I have been invited to exhibit the Lap Quilts I was commissioned to create back in 2017 by NHS Lothian CHarity (previously known as Edinburgh & Lothians Health Foundation) for the Royal Edinburgh Hospital in Morningside.
I have worked with the team at CAT throughout my career as a textile designer and value their commitment to the projects I bring to them as well as their patience and expertise. This project took several years to complete due to the robust specifications required of delivering such a product and would not have been possible without the support of Alan, Laura and Vicky at CAT.
