2016 began with a busy January to get us out of our holiday mode and back in the studio at full speed! We took part in our first overseas trade show with BEDG at Maison & Objet in Paris last month and it was a great experience. We met some incredible buyers and press, plus we were lucky to be surrounded by some of the finest companies from the UK who were also exhibiting their wares with BEDG.
We were there to launch our new 'Disruption' collection (pictured above) and introduce our brand to the European market.
Our neighbours were the lovely Linda Bloomfield (who we met on our Japan mission late last year) and the enthusiastic (and fellow snack lover) Jen from Hokolo. It was also lovely to catch up with old friends from Ham and Niki Jones and make new ones from companies such as Lush Designs.
We also spotted a rather nice table by Troels Flensted on a quick walk round Hall 7...
January also saw us take part in CraftScotland's 'Go & See' trip to New York to visit the international trade show 'NY NOW!' along with eight other scottish based designer/makers. It was a brilliant four days of seeing the trade show, hearing from specialist advisers about importing into the USA and our own research into potential stockists as well as visits to museums and galleries for inspirational/research purposes. The Frank Stella exhibition at the Whitney just blew me away...
I was also recommended to visit the exquisite Totokaelo by a good friend and it didn't disappoint. The building itself is beautiful with the cleverly designed split levels and glass ceiling, as well as all the incredible clothes and home accessories it stocked, but the smell as you walked in was one of my favourite things...
Now it's back to Glasgow and back to the studio...
