Print/Maker: Inky, Creative Success, a book by UPPERCASE

November 08, 2018

Print/Maker, Volume P in the Encyclopedia of Inspiration

Back at the start of this year I received an out of the blue email asking if I'd like to be part of a book called Print/Maker - a book that would contain profiles of designers and artists from around the world who use printmaking as their main creative outlet. It was a humbling invitation and I sent off my photos and text and didn't think much more about it until recently when I saw some first images and then shortly afterwards the finished book arrived on my studio desk! I had no idea how beautiful it would be!

Janine Vangool is the talented person behind Uppercase and the 'Encyclopedia of Inspiration'. Founded in 2009 in Calgary, Alberta, UPPERCASE is a small, independent publisher of books and magazines for the creative and curious: products that spark the imagination and inspire creativity.
It's a pleasure to be included amongst 47 other print makers from around the world, including some fellow Glasgow School of Art graduates - Risotto & The Printed Peanut.

Here's one of things I had to say when Janine asked me about my practice:

"I absolutely love immersing myself in the research of something and feeling that excitement at the start of a new idea or project about where you might end up, but I also love it when you see that new design for the first time on fabric or mixing colours in the studio. I'm probably at my happiest in any of those situations"

If you'd like to get hold of a copy of this, or any of the other books in the series, then please head over to the UPPERCASE website here.
