Textiles, Text & Landscape - Talk & Weaving Workshop with Erin McQuarrie
Join textile artist Erin McQuarrie for a workshop that explores the connection between textiles, text and landscape. Sharing the same etymology, text and textiles are intrinsically linked and have been used by humans for thousands of years to communicate and respond to their surroundings.
This session will begin with an introduction to Erin’s practice exploring how she and others have contemplated these themes through their creative work and will be followed by an introductory weaving workshop. Utilising natural yarns and materials, participants will explore the qualities of natural colour and the textures of natural fibre and materials. They will be introduced to basic weave structure and encouraged to find playful ways to experiment with warp and weft.
This workshop is suitable for anyone who has an interest in creative, sustainable practice. Small looms and materials will be provided but participants are also welcome to bring along any natural materials with which they would like to experiment.

Location: Sculpture House, 6 Blackstoun Road, Paisley, PA3 1LS
Cost: Free, but a £15 refundable deposit is taken at the time of booking. If you cancel your spot within 72 hours of the class starting we will need to keep your deposit to cover administrative costs involved in the cancellation of your place.
