#ShopSmall: Gift Inspirations

As many of us strive to support small and independent makers and shops this year, we've curated a diverse mix of gift inspirations from other small businesses for you to browse!

1. Ceramic Squirrel Mug

KMAdotcom is an artist studio based in Mayfield, Midlothian supported by Artlink Edinburgh. As part of these works, Scottish maker Manifesto interpreted a series of textural, colourful felt tip drawings made by Gavin into sculptural objects for the home. A cheery way to start the day with your cup of tea!

2. Sun Screen Print by Hannah Waldron

We love this sun riso print - or splash out on one of Hannah's beautiful Baja Weaving Series wall-hangings.

 3. Tanaka Soaps

The most beautiful handmade soaps - natural, cold-pressed and plastic free.

4. Darning Kit - Collingwood Norris

The perfect gift for the craft lover in your life - learn how to darn and repair your clothes or textiles!

5. Brass Hand Pin - Freya Im

A cute little pin which would look great on any winter coat. Freya always displays her jewellery with exquisite attention to detail at markets and applies the same dreamy detail to her packaging.

6. Paulin Watches

We've long admired all of Paulin's beautiful watches (if you're in Edinburgh or Glasgow you can also check out their physical shops!) Plus you can choose from a variety of strap colours. A colour lovers dream!

7. Moss Jotter - Dear Prudence

Who doesn't love new notebooks and stationery?! I love this illustration very much (and many others on the dearprudence site).

8. Bedspread 'Flock' - Hilary Grant

We love all of Hilary's beautiful pieces - especially this new bedspread. Perfect for keeping warm on these cold winter nights. It's the kind of piece that you'd redecorate a whole room for just to make it work....maybe that's just me? But it's definitely a thing of beauty!

9. Weaving Loom Kit - The Squid Ink Co

Teach yourself to weave - perfect for beginners! I purchased one fo these for my Grandma during the first lockdown as an activity to help keep her mind off all that's been going on outside and she loved having a go at something new!

10. Corb Mini Necklace - Cecilia Stamp

We love this new silver necklace by Cecilia - minimal and perfect for everyday wear.

11. Brushes - Grain and Knot

Beautiful handmade brushes and utensils made from reclaimed wood - each one is unique. I think it's going to be hard to just stop at one...

12. Sewing Patterns - Paper Theory

If you know someone who's always wanted to make their own clothes, this is a great gift! We love the jumpsuit pictured above, but they also have many other options to choose from.

13. Geometric Circle Wall Hangings - Studio Nom

More striking interior ideas - this one for the monochrome lover in your life. Again, I think it might be hard to stop at one, especially when you check out Studio Nom's instagram (which you definitely should!) and see multiples hanging together on a wall

14. Salmon Pink Bobble Hat - Samuji

Cosy and colourful - just what we all need at this time of year! I love the oversized style of this too!

15. 2021 Calendar - Risotto

A classic! We get one every year - what better way to start the new year (hopefully a brighter one for us all!) than with one of these colourful calendars.

We also don't want to forget about supporting bricks and mortar shops - here's a few of our favourites in Scotland:

Aume (Glasgow)
OR (Skye)
Life Story (Edinburgh)
Our Lovely Goods (Aberdeen)
Hoos (Glasgow)

Thanks for reading and we hope this has given you some ideas!
