LOCAL COLOUR: A NATURAL DYE WORKSHOP WITH JULIA BILLINGS OF WOOLLENFLOWER
SATURDAY 12th AUGUST 2023
10.00AM – 3.30PM

Join horticulturist and craftsperson Julia Billings in a hands-on workshop exploring the joy of natural dyes, with a particular focus on locally-found plants.

Working with a number of dyes, we’ll cover the essentials of transferring the colours found in plants onto fabric and yarn, including fibre preparation, sourcing dyestuff, preparing and working with a natural dye-bath, safe dyeing practice and other tips. We’ll also look at a range of plants that can be foraged or grown locally and take a short walk to explore the dye potential of the streets around the Sculpture House.

Each Dye Garden Social event is free to attend and has been kindly supported by Creative Scotland.
